And in other news...

Well August is right around the corner (tomorrow) and life is starting to get CRAZY!! If you don't believe me take a look at my August Calendar...

There isn't a day that we don't have someone coming or going or we aren't coming or going ect. Did I mention they come to get all our stuff the 3rd of Aug. yet we don't leave until the 15th to go to Iowa.. ugh..

Imagine, Me and my very lively 2 yr old in a house with NOTHING not even a TV to lean on when mommy needs some sanity time. NOTHING.. At least I know Sophia and I are going to have some good ol' quality time before the big move.

Stephen had his Farewell dinner last night and it was great!! We have been blessed to have made some pretty amazing friends here at Fort Benning. Friends that we will dearly miss and I wish they could just come with us ! Here are some pics for the night :)

Sophia LOVES Cake!

Sophia's present for her airplane ride :)

Thank you Gloria for making such an amazing farewell gift for Stephen.. this will be the first thing we hang up in our new home :)

Deanna made us another amazing cake.. That large doll represents our little Sophia taking over South Korea ;)

As soon as the movers have come and gone and we get the house in renting order we will be off to Iowa and Kansas for some family time :)

One last thing...

Here is our Sweet Sophia in her Brand spankin new shirt..Go on.. Read what the shirt says..

That's right.. Sophia is going to be a BIG SISTER!! We are expecting a new little bundle of Joy on February 29th, 2012(betcha didn't know it was leap year huh) .. We didn't until just a few weeks ago ;)
So our crazy little army life is about to get a bit crazier!!I am 10 weeks now and will be about 15 weeks when we fly out for Korea so hopefully the terrible nausea and extreme exhaustion will have passed by then!

Well that is about all we have on our end..

Much love,
The Thompson fam :)

Korea here we come!!!

We have great news!! We got Command Sponsored (basically the army's way of saying they will pay for us to move and live in Korea ) We will be moving to Daegu, South Korea hopefully the first part of September and are so very excited. This is not only the opportunity of a life time for us but it keeps Stephen out of harms way for two straight years!

Daegu is in the Southern part of South Korea about 3 hours from Seoul. It's the 4rd largest city in South Korea and is know for it's yummy apples and fashion (yippee). It is a super safe area, clean and WAAAYYY South of that pesky Mr. Kim Jong Ill ;) So no need to worry about us:)

We have about 11 weeks give or take until we are on our way to Korea and the adventure of a lifetime!!

I have so many people think I am crazy because I want so badly to go to Korea with Stephen. I have heard a MILLION times I should just let him do his year and then we move on to our next Duty Station together. I see it like this, I may be shaking in my boots moving to this crazy foreign country but at least I am with my husband. More importantly Sophia has her dad home for dinner every night for 2 years straight. He will be there to see all her milestones she has yet to achieve and there to sing her to sleep. I would be selfish to take that away from her or him for that matter, because I may be "uncomfortable" in this very foreign country.
So instead I look at this like our families very own adventure. An opportunity god has dropped right in our laps after so many months of prayer, reflection and hard work. This is a chance not only to be together but to discover a place so many people will never see.

So here ya go.. a few pics of our home-to-be for the next two years :)

Quick update..

Well my blogging has been less than stellar lately but life with a two year old tends to keep one very busy!!

So here is a wrap  up of Life with the Thompson's over the last few months.

March -we have a wonderful visit from my Mom, Brother, nephew, future sister in law and my soon to be niece. We were so glad they came to visit!!

In April we took a trip to a little place you may have heard of.... DISNEY WORLD!! That's right we spent 4 days  mingling with Mickey, playing with princesses and having an all around good time. I will say this. Disney is a bit much for a 2 year old. Can you say DISNEY overload?!? All in all, it was a great time!

Not sure who was more excited to meet Tigger.. Me or Sophia ;)

Chatting with Cinderella

Lots of love for Mickey

Mid April Stephen left for a Leadership school in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. So Gma J flew down and we took a little Road trip back up to Iowa. Sophia being in the midst of potty training, we saw just about every bathroom from Alabama to Iowa, making for a very Looonnnggg trip.

3am photo shoot

She loves her road trips ;)
And she sleeps...

So that brings us to now. We are hanging in Iowa during the week and meeting up with Stephen on the weekends. We spent Tuesday at the good ol' Des Moines Zoo. Hoping to hit up Living History Farms and the Science Center before we had back to Alabama next month.

We are still waiting to hear about Korea. So please keep our family in your prayers as we are desperately wanting to go to Korea as a family. God had his plans, we just have to trust him.

So there is a quick update on our life here in Thompson land.

Much love !

Happy birthday Stephen!!

Happy birthday to my handsome, sweet and kind hubby I am so lucky to have you in my life and so blessed you decided to call me your wife!! (totally didn't mean for that to rhyme lol )
We celebrated like crazy on Satruday and had a great time! We had our first really BIG party at our house. Let me tell you party planning is not an easy task but worth it in the end! Stephen had a great celebration filled with many friends and their families! I don't think I have ever had that many people in our house at one time but it all worked out. Here are a few pics for Stephens big 3-1 Birthday party!!

Birthday breakfast  :)

I made special cupcakes (muffins as Sophia would call them)

Stephen's very special Chiefs Cake

Happy Birthday To you!
Happy Birthday Stephen !! Hope you had a wonderful 31st birthday and here is too many more birthday spent together as a family!!

tomseun-eun hangug-eulo gago issseubnida

After weighting our options and praying like crazy we have finally as a family made a final decision...

tomseun-eun hangug-eulo gago issseubnida .. THE THOMPSON'S ARE MOVING TO KOREA!!!!

Okay I know .. you are thinking.. ARE YOU CRAZY.. and yes may be a little.. but let's face it you have to be a little crazy in this crazy military life. Our family has endured a year long deployment and at this point two years together is to WONDERFUL to pass up... even if we are going to the single most  homogeneous country in the world. That being said the country is very modernized and safe. It's not the good ol' US of A but it will be a cool place to live for 2 years.

North Korea.. That is looming in the back of your head isn't it ? Well Don't you worry because we are not to worried. North Korea is a nothing more than an annoyance to the Korea's so I am told. I figure if they aren't worried than I am not going to be. I also believe in the Army enough to know they would keep us safe if we were ever in harms way. I don't anticipate this happening at all while we are living there.

We were pretty much devastated when we lost our chance to go to Italy. God has a funny way of working and by taking Italy away from us he gave a a HUGE  gift. If we had moved to Italy Stephen WOULD have deployed to Afghanistan for another year.. YUCK..
Best Part about  Korea is Stephen will never deploy!! YIPPEE!! Out of harms way for two WHOLE years!!

SEPTEMBER is when we will hopefully be heading over there. Stephen reports early Sept and I am praying we can go with him at that time.  If not then I will be making the trip with Sophia and the dogs solo. 14 hrs straight on a plane alone with a 2 yr old frightens me !!  Last time I was on a plane that long, I was on my way to Australia popped an ambien and was out for the flight. I won't have that luxury this time lol...

Anyways.. we wanted to share the news and hopefully you all will be as excited for us as we are :) The coming months are going to be filled with all the craziness that PCS's (psst...that's army jargon for permanent change of duty Station  ) will bring but we promise we will be visiting family and friends before we make the big move!

Happy New Years!

Well we said good bye to 2010 and a big hello to 2011. 2010 was a bitter sweet year for us. We spent the majority of it without Stephen. I learned a lot about myself last year. I found a strength I sure didn't know I had.  As a family we learned just how great the Internet and skype really can be and I slept with my computer on the pillow next to me many of nights. Sometimes waiting for a call, sometimes just falling asleep to Stephen's face smiling back at me and talking me to sleep. We learned humility as a family. Learned that god is who we need to turn to in times of turmoil and loosing faith is not an option. We learned that reuniting after being apart so long is true bliss but isn't always as easy as one might think. 2010 was hard at times but I came out of it a stronger woman, better mother and most importantly with a stronger marriage.

We rang in the new year Sick :( Stephen had a horrible cold and I was exhausted from potty training (um.. who knew teaching one munchkin to pee in a potty could really be so mentally exhausting.. ) So we brought the new year in with a kiss on each cheek, proceeded by both our head hitting the pillow and falling fast asleep. No matter how uneventful the evening was, the fact that Stephen was with in an arms reach from me was the best part!! Sick or not I just feel blessed he was right beside me :)

Who knows what 2011 will bring us. If there is one thing military life has taught me, it is never to plan. Just live in the moment.Which brings me to my resolution...

TO TRY AND GO WITH THE FLOW. TRUST IN GODS PLAN AND ENJOY THE TIME I HAVE WITH MY FAMILY.

I tend to get so worried about where we are going next that I forget to enjoy where we are now :(

This year should bring us back to Des Moines for a few months while the Army is keeping Stephen busy as School. We can't wait to spend some QT time with family and friends. I am also hoping that 2011 may bless us with a baby. We have talked about another munchkin but at this point Sophia is enough to keep our hands full .. so we will see.. someday.. maybe..

Here are some pictures from the year .. some of my favorites :) Please ignore the three pics that didnt download right.. I have no clue how to fix it.. oops .. sorry
March - Stephen came home on R&R .. what a wonderful month!!
