Halloween isn't my favorite holiday .. probably my LEAST favorite. As a teacher I hated the day after Halloween. Kids coming down from their sugar high.. worse yet.. kids still on a sugar high because they had two twix and a whatchamacallit for breakfast... ugh..
Anyways..Bad Halloween feeling aside Sophia dressed up and we went trick or treating. She ate chocolate and we had a grand ol' time.
Stephen had full reign on Costume choosing this year since he missed her first Halloween. I must say he did a FABULOUS job.. Sophia was the cutest darn bumblebee at Nebraska furniture mart!! We went trick or treating at NFM because we were in Kansas and Kansas is COLD. So we opted for a inside trick or treating event :)
Here are some pictures of our sweet lil' bumblebee...
When Stephen and I got married it was small. When I say Small I mean .. Me, Stephen, my two wonderful friends and a very cute little old judge in a Furry Russian hat. We had a quick lunch after and before I knew it the recruiter took my husband away and we didn't see each other until the next morning. Not exactly the wedding of my dreams but I was marring the man I love and had people who loved and supported us by our side. Oh, did I mention we wore hoodies? Yep, I was sporting my Cyclone gear at our wedding. Our reason for the hoodie wedding was simple. We made a promise to ourselves that we WOULD have a wedding. Everyone made it clear to us that "everyone says that..but no one actually DOES it " well..WE DID IT!
We recently came back from Jamaica where we were married on the beach. White dress, handsome husband, cake, champagne and paradise all around us. It was amazing and I feel blessed we were able to do this for ourselves.
I loved my husband the day I married him. I thought my heart couldn't love him more the day we had sweet Sophia. He left for Iraq and I thought my heart would break. I had never felt more love for him than I did watching him walk away. Then we spent a year apart and we found a new type of love for each other. I loved him even more. So to be blessed with the chance to tell him how I felt that special day on that beach was amazing.
Stephen has been on leave (leave meaning 30 days of no work. A kind of "pat on the back" for working for a year straight )
Anyway... we haven't done a whole lot mainly because Soph has been battling just about every virus out there. Meaning the first week of Stephens leave has been spent in the house recovering, getting sick again, recovering, yada yada and the cycle continues. She is on the mend now and hopefully stays that way!!
Sickness or not it has been AMAZING to watch the bond between Stephen and Sophia grow a little more each day. She loves her daddy and he loves his little princess.
All of our children :)
Happy Family
Finally we kind of have some fall weather
She had the flu.. Note to self.. toddlers do not get the concept of a "puke bowl"
Our little beauty
Daddy came home with this cool little princess car for his little princess...
He is already working on making her a die hard chiefs fan..
It is here.. the milestone I have been waiting for since before Sophia was born.. GYMNASTICS!!
We started last week and to be honest I was more excited than she was :) Turns out she LOVES it and I think she definitely has some Shawn Johnson Qualities in her..lol ;) If you don't believe me just look at these pics...
He is home safe and sound and we are one happy little family!! I must apologize for taking forever to put up pictures! In a million years I didn't expect life to be so crazy!! I am still getting use to the extra laundry, dishes in the sink and such but it is well worth it. I will hopefully get back into the groove of this wife thing soon enough :)
Our homecoming was nothing like I had imagined. I was in the midst of changing Sophia's diaper when I heard her say "Daddy!"I figured she was just preparing for the big moment when we would run and jump into his arms. Oh wait! That moment didn't happen lol. Instead I turned around and there he is walking towards us with his dog. His dog is a trained attack dog so running and jumping into Stephen's arms was out of the question. So instead I threw Soph's cute little tutu on and walked slowly and as calmly as I could towards him. Someone finally grabbed the dog so we could hug but my camera was in the car so no pics:( Fast forward 6 hours later we finally got some pics.
Here they are :)

Bed time .. daddy thought he would tuck her in :)
Our afternoon date.. we went bowling.. I won't mention who won.. lets just say all those bowling classes in High school came in handy ;)
Well, We are still waiting for Stephen to get home. Everyones patients are wearing and I am trying to remember it is all in God's hands and he has a plan. This however is easier said than done. We are so close to the end but unfortunatly the Army seems in no hurry to get him home. We are hoping to see him sometime in the next couple week.
Sophia and I are trying to stay busy but time has a way of standing still when you are anxiously awaiting your soldiers arrival. We are ready and will wait as long as it takes :)
Here are a few pictures to show you just how we feel right about now.
Come on .. Bring my daddy home already ..
Hey !!! I WANT MY DADDY!!!
Now she is REALLY MAD!!!
On a positive note.. Gma J sent Soph some very Snazzy Sneakers last week. Very sparkly, very shiny and when she walks they light up and twinkle.
Showing of her new sneaks
And.. testing them out.. fabulous!
Hopefully my next update contains lots of pictures of Hugging, kissing and a family FINALLY back together agian.
So it occurred to me today as I was listening to Jason Mraz and Elmo Singing the Sesame street version of I'm yours.... just how my musical genera has changed.
I remember back in the day.. I use to love to lay down, put on my ipod and get lost in the music. Just stop and breath, clear my mind and listen. White Stripes, Dylan, Counting crows.. oh how I miss you..
Fast forward to today: To lay down and listen to music DOES NOT HAPPEN. If I am laying down I am SLEEPING. If I am listening to music it is.. 9 times out of 10... either Sophia's play list on my ipod or our very silly song CD. So desperate for some inkling of my old music.. I went and bought Ziggy Marley's Children's CD.
So I am behind on the times when it comes to music. I have found myself enjoying the "light 100 music " station (Gasp) .. and even more embarrassing to admit.. on this "light" station is the John Tesh Radio show... Which I have come quite fond of..
I can hear you laughing now..
In my defense the man is full of all sorts of little wisdoms and facts about life... I just can't help but listen. Don't worry I have not started wearing mom jeans or driving a mini van so there is STILL hope for me. Although I would love a mini van :)
Did I just say that out loud!?
I know you all are dying to here the sweet sounds of Jason Mraz and Elmo.. So here ya go .. ENJOY!..
I couldn't have a blog w/o a Sophia picture.. here she is dancing to some of her silly songs!!
